The Stonehust Edible Schoolard is a 15,000 square foot community garden that will serve as a living laboratory for school age children and their parents at Experanza Elementary School and Korematsu Discovery Academy.

The garden is an exciting collaboration between All Ah We/All of Us, the City of Oakland Parks and Recreation Department, Oakland Organizing Committee, and Alameda County Nutritional Services Department.

Garden DesignThe garden will feature a commercial-scale vermiculture/composting system that will process food waste from the school cafeteria into rich soil. We will use the compost from this system to remediate the soil in the garden and to create added-value products that the the community can sell to support the development of the garden.
